WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!
A NOTE FROM THE PLT PRESIDENT
Welcome back to another great year at Goolsby! School is in and summer is out. Well, the summer months are behind us but the heat is still lingering around.
First, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Laurie Crofton and I am the President of Goolsby's PLT, our school's Parent Leadership Team. Our mission statement reads:
The mission of the PLT is to carry out activities that support, promote, provide and enhance the educational experience of the students of Goolsby. The PLT provides support for special events and programs that are unable to be funded by other means. The PLT also gives parents and staff the opportunity to work together to make Goolsby an exceptional school for our children.
One of the main goals of the PLT this year is to continue to enhance communication between the parents, teachers and staff bringing everyone together to work as a team for the good of our children. We feel very strongly that by 'Working Together' we can achieve great things.
To make this year a success we need you! There are so many different ways to get involved. We welcome everyone and appreciate any time or talent you can offer. Please take a look at our Volunteer section on the Goolsby PLT website for some of the many ways you can become involved at the school, in the PLT and ultimately in your child's education.
The PLT Board has been working diligently throughout the summer months and these past couple weeks to ensure a successful year. We have some exciting things coming up so be sure to take a look at the upcoming events section below.
I personally would like to thank all of the officers and committee chairs for the countless volunteer hours they have already put into this years preparation and planning. Each and everyone of you are vital to the success of this organization. I can't express enough how grateful I am for you, your dedication of time and your talents that you continue to contribute to our 'Team'. Thank you!
We are all looking forward to another incredible year at Goolsby! There are many new families attending Goolsby this year and we hope to meet most if not all of you soon. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or another Board member.

FALL FESTIVAL PLANNING MEETING
Our first planning meeting for our upcoming Fall Festival (Sat., Oct. 24) will take place immediately after the PLT General Meeting. If you're interested in helping with the planning of this incredible Goolsby Event, please join us! This is one of the biggest events of the year and we'll need the help of many to ensure its success. Questions? Please contact Laurie Crofton. See you there!
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11

Please join us for a special morning ceremony at which we will honor the military and service personnel in our community. This is a wonderful opportunity to focus on the men and women in our community who serve to protect and save our lives everyday. We invite all Goolsby family members who serve in the Military, fire, police or any other service personnel, to join us in uniform, as we honor you and the job that you do.
You are the heroes of our community!
Immediately following the ceremony there will be a short "heroes reception" in the atrium.

Calling all Grandparents! GOODIES with GRANDPARENTS
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18
8:00 am in the atrium
You are invited to come and enjoy some 'goodies' with your grandchild(ren).
Grandparents and their grandchildren can get a special event photo memento for a donation of $1.
We welcome you to stay and attend Goolsby's Morning Ceremony following the reception.

Dusk Movie begins
Bring a picnic dinner & blankets and watch a movie on our field with other Goolsby families!
"A fun family event that all will enjoy!"
Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.

Our scheduled Dinner Night Out for this month had to be cancelled. A new location, date and time will be announced later. Thank you!

One of the new programs implemented last year is the
TEACHER WISH LIST program.
The PLT Teacher Wish List program enables Goolsby teachers to request donations of items from parents that would help in their classrooms. As we all know, teachers spend a lot of their own money during the year on extras not supplied by the district. It's those little touches they add to their rooms and projects that help make learning fun and enjoyable to our kids. This program is easily accessible on our website. Go to www.goolsbyplt.com and click on the TEACHER WISH LIST link. If your teacher has requested donations, they will be listed next to his/her name. If you can help by providing any of the listed items, please call or email the teacher, Room Parent, or just send the item into school with your child. Our teachers do so much for our children that we want to support them in every way possible.

Now, you can easily find out information on after-school programs available to Goolsby students.
Registration has already begun for several favorites, so be sure to check it out!
DISPLAY YOUR CHILD'S BIRTHDAY ON THE SCHOOL'S MARQUEE!
Display your child's name on the school's message board for $25! Complete the online application or pick up one at the front office and return to your child's teacher in a sealed envelope marked PLT. Please return 1 week prior to your child's birthday.
Went home with your child on Friday.
Sell 2 or more books to help raise money for Goolsby!
Cost is $30 per book.* Sell 2 books... Receive a free yogurt from U-Swirl! For every 5 books sold... receive a FREE ENTERTAINMENT BOOK! Sell to out-of-state family & friends. Register your student at www.fundraising.entertainment.com then you can easily send them an email. Be sure to use our school's acct. #: 858734 when registering. For more information or questions contact Angie Phillips at teapot2@cox.net*Cost of each book is $30. Please disregard the information on the Snack-Shack flyer that came home with your child today. This is a take home fundraiser and at this time we do not have an inventory of books to sell at school. Thank you!
