“Goolsby Giving Back to the Community”
Community Service at Goolsby started in 2005 when we "adopted" a sister school, Harmon Elementary. Harmon is a Title 1 school in the Clark County School District, located in the Southeast Region. Over the years we have helped support the students and families in a variety of ways. We have successfully completed a "Fall Giving Tree", Thanksgiving food drive, Coat drive and a Holiday toy drive. In addition, our library has also delivered thousands of books from our highly successful book drives held by our librarian, Mrs. Streets. The students were so excited to be able to actually have a book that is their very own.
During the The Fall Giving Tree we collected several items including uniforms, undergarments, socks, shoes, coats and even personal hygiene items. The PLT with the help of many of our Goolsby families were able to clothe over 150 high needs students from Harmon.
During the Thanksgiving food drive we were able to collect hundreds of canned goods and boxes of food to help provide a Thanksgiving meal for most of their families.
At our Coat Drive we collected and delivered car loads full of coats! Unfortunately, many of the students at Harmon come to school in the cold winter months without a coat. With the help of our Goolsby families we were able to help keep them warm.
Lastly, we have also successfully completed a Holiday toy drive. We were fortunate enough to be able to deliver many boxes of toys to help make the holidays a little brighter for many of the children.
The PLT thanks for your continued support over the years and we look forward to another very successful year helping the children at our sister school.
